I put villian on the flush draw, figured he woulda checked flop if he flopped it. I do raise AJ preflop once in awhile.
On the turn I thought he probably had a J with a weaker kicker.

Why would you slowplay this hand on this board?

Need more info about villain...but without any, I put him on KJ with K /images/graemlins/club.gif, a straight (10/9), or a small flush...one of which you beat.

what is your reasoning for raising the turn?

I guess I was wanting to see if anyone hit the flush, when villain raised and everyone else folded I put villain on a flush draw, I didn't want to reraise because I wanted to see the turn cheaply. Once I saw the turn I wanted to shut his flush draw down.
Also didn't have much of a read on villain.
Also see I should have reraised more on turn to shut the flush draw out, correct?

He's drawing. Not you.

flopped straight?
edit: he raises if he had a set and turned a boat.

My guess is straight. Hes not playing too aggresive since there's a flush on the board. Although his large river call may not make sense if he is on the str8.

He could have anything on the flop.
Straight, flush, full house, flush draw, 2 pairs, 1 pair, bluff etc. I don't think you can rule out a flush just because he bets the flop.
Why didn't you bet the turn if you thought he was drawing? did you think he would try and represent the J?
I think giving away a free card here could kill you, he might just check behind with 9T, flush draw etc so unless you had a read he would try and represent the J I think you should bet the turn.
I don't think making a bigger check-raise on the turn is a good idea beacuse if a 9, T or club hits on the river you might be bluffed out of the hand. I would prefer too keep the pot a bit smaller especially since you might not have the best hand.
What would you have done if you were raised on the river?
Overall I think you played it pretty good, I might have played it differently but I think the way you played is fine especially since this is shorthanded and they are usually pretty loose-agressive

I think not raising AJ four handed is pretty bad.

Yeah I think I still play tighter than I should.

That's not tight, it's passive. I feel like a dictionary around here.

Getting the label wrong is obviously not such a big deal. Understanding the concepts is a bigger deal. And being passive playing short handed is a huge deal.
