My brother's birthday is coming up and he wants an authentic Indian/Middle Eastern style cookbook. Any ideas?

OK, here's a serious reply.

Best Middle Eastern cookbook is "A Book of Middle Eastern Cooking" by Claudia Roden.

For Indian, anything by Charmaine Solomon. I think her books are much higher quality than those of the better known Madhu Jaffrey.

I recommend roasting hot dogs over a flaming Koran.

I think the point was, what man asks for a cookbook for his birthday?

Maybe his brother is looking for a gift for his wife and is using this as an excuse to not have to shop for her, so he can drink more beer.

Beats just handing her a $100 and letting her go shopping.
Hmmm, I may have to use this plan myself.

BRILLIANT!
