Do you think this will work - 16-24 guys, 2 to 3 tables, $20 buy-in. Chips will be 37 each for $3000 total. 20 chips @ $25, 15 chips @ $100, 2 chips @ $500. Blinds will be as follows, based on 20 minute rounds...

25/50
50/100
75/150
150/300
200/400
300/600
400/800
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000

I want the tourney to take between 3 and 4 hours. This is a few more chips in terms of money than I usually give and I would like to know your thoughts/input/help.

Thanks.

I'd guess it depends on how the players play... it looks like it'd be 3½-4 hours minimum w/ little to no breaks. Has the potential of pushing 5 hours due to the fact you have T60,000 w/ 20 players. A guideline is that the tourney should end at/near when the BB is 10-20% chips in play - I think they tend to end much earlier. If you keep your blind progression at 200 your looking at the 5 hour mark to hit 2000-4000 and that's without any breaks.

You might want to consider dropping the 2 T500's and start with T2000 (35 Chips)... the T500's will come into play with color ups. I'd think this would put you in the 3-4 hrs. mark w/ a couple breaks safely.

My best guess,
Fins

PS- Post a tourney report and let us know how it went & what if anything you'd do differently.

Thank you sir. That was very helpful. From my last tourney, I slowed down the blind schedule and increased the amount of $$$. Either I will pull one or both of the $500 chips from the initial buy-in or wait and see just how many guys show up and judge from there. Thanks...

Man I envy you guys. 20+ people for a home tourney. I struggle to get 6 players for a ring game. Anyway, I Tink thats a 5 hour or so tourney you've constructed there.
