I finish 3rd in STT's more often than I do 1st and 2nd combined (60-40-120).
Is this normal or is it a bad sign?

I suspect it is a result of either;
A) Law of averages,
B) My overly tight play on the bubble, or
C) My play becoming overly loose once i secure a money spot.
D) All of above

Are your results similar?

That used to be how I was, and how you'll usually end up if you closely follow the standard 10+1 guides. I've been playing more loose-aggressive lately, and found that my #1 is now as much as my #2 and #3 combined, although my ITM has dropped. I think my ROI has either stayed the same or else gone up slightly.

This is probably a big reason for the abundance of thirds. Play aggressive on the bubble, especially with a big stack. Open raise with many hands, hardly ever call. Don't be afraid to put all your chips in the middle if the situation is right (i.e. if I'm going for a resteal, its almost always a push if the blinds are big, and I only do it with a decent hand)
