I don't think anyone here is hating on him. As a person, he seems like a pretty good guy, and if you've read any of his posts around here you know he knows what he's talking about.

Clearly you're not sure about a lot of things. And it's not close. Do you see why? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Fossilman finished 3rd at the main event of the 2001 World Poker Finals at Foxwoods. This event is now a WPT event, but of course the WPT did not exist in 2001.

To the best of my knowledge this is Greg's 2nd best finish in a major tournament.

Here's the Hendon Mob results for greg.

05-Jan-05 Bahamas $ 7,800 WPT Main Event - No Limit Hold'em
2005 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, Paradise Island 32nd $ 13,000

01-Sep-04 United States No Limit Hold'em - Tournament of Champions
World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions, Las Vegas 5th

06-Aug-04 Ireland € 5,710 Episode 1
The Gaming Club World Poker Championship (Pot Limit Hold'em), Dublin 4th

22-May-04 United States $ 10,000 World Championship Event
35th World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2004, Las Vegas 1st $ 5,000,000

22-Apr-01 United States $ 1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo Split Eight or Better
32nd World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2001, Las Vegas 12th $ 5,345

Clearly this list is incomplete, since it doesn't include any of the tournaments at Foxwoods he played in. Here's a partial list I found on Poker pages.

18-Sept-03 - FARGO Multiple Event Tournament. 1st ($1,248)

27-Oct-02 WPT Finals Season 1 NL - Foxwoods. 3rd ($12,654)

9-Nov-02 WPT Season 1 $2k NL. 9th ($3,700)
- Carlos Mortenson won.

21-Mar-01 NE Poker Classic 7 Card Stud. 1st ($25,560)
- Paul Dardon was 9th

20-Nov-00 Foxwoods World Poker Finals NL Holdem 3rd ($48,960)
- Carlos Mortenson was 9th

1-Dec-00 U.S. Poker Championships - Limit Hold'em. 13th ($1,130)

And remember, he's only done this part-time until now. And he's probably improved a bit since 2000. So if for any reason you find yourself disappointed in his prior record, I'd suggest waiting to see how he does as a full-timer before you compare his results to other pros.

This did not happen. It was not the main even at the poker finals, it was a 360 dollar event (I believe that was the buyin), either 360 or 540, can't remember.

I know this because my brother and father came in 10th and 12th respectively in the same tourney.

Peace

I think he meant the 2000 WPF main event (http://www.pokerpages.com/tournament/result1047.htm) at Foxwoods.

Oops. It was 2000, not 2001. The buy-in was $5100.

But between this event and some of the other good finishes a previous poster found at the Hendon Mob site, Greg has had a pretty good record for a part-timer who basically only played in New England or the World Series until last year. I won't be surprised to see more TV tables and good finishes for Mr. Raymer, especially since he'll be playing more big events.

Or am I wrong and this is NOT a troll asking a troll-like question?
