View Full Version : A note about pokercosmo-long

I posted this about 5-6 months ago. When I first heard about poker cosmo -it was only when I was sent an email from them telling me about their site.At that time I asked myself how the hell did they get my email address?I wasn't alarmed because I have always looked out for new sites. However I did notice that when I downloaded the site it had the exact same icon as true poker. All in all it was a little fishy. To top it off a new site offering a deposit bonus of up to a free possible $500 (depositing 5000)-I guess it was a little too good to be true.I actually almost thought of depositing there.I wonder how many people actually deposited the 5000?There must have been a few becuase they were beginning to get 2-3 steady tables.I would have given them a few more months and I would have taken a samll plunge.I guess good advice for internet poker is to never risk a huge amount in a unproven or a site with not many games.Look at pokerstars -they started out real small with tons of freerolls and nothing but smaller limits. They gradually built up trust and a large player base.So when they had their grand opening promos I felt fairly confident depositing $600 to take full advantage of the bonus.ACR is doing the same thing. They are starting out real small and offering tons of freerolls -establishing a player base and trust. This process has made pokerstars the#2 site online and if ACR continues like this they won't be far behind.Advice to new sites like propoker, sunrise poker, dynamite, palacepokerroom and probably 10 others who are preparing to open -start out small and forget the fly by night giant deposit promos becuase this is one fish who won't get sucked in -and hopefully the rest will take my advice and dont take huge risk on unproven sites.

I never played there because "pokercosmos" is such a stupid name. What the hell was that supposed to mean anyways?

it was PokerCosmo - short for "cosmopolitan", meaning "composed of people from many countries" - almost a perfect name, in fact, had the site worked

the bad news is, like many of the other sites, it wasn't a name you would just look at, like www.Poker.com (http://www.Poker.com), for example - you would have to be advised to look at it by a site like twoplustwo - with a "buyer beware" proviso, of course, because you couldn't expect a site accepting advertising revenue from it to give any sort of recommendation of it - presumably they wouldn't have time, nor, indeed, duty, to make any checks if they had seven or eight advertisers coming from a very specific field of business

I have to agree with BOB L. Many of these sites are probably needing a large cash infusion to carry on doing business. So they offer these large promotions where you get 25-125% of you buy in added to your account as a bonus. Then you have to play a certain number of games wagering 10X or more the amount of the deposit and bonus....ON and On.

I have been playing at DynamitePoker.com for almost 11 months now. I had started with $5 that they gave me as a bonus to help in Beta testing 11 months ago. I play about 4 or 5 freerolls a week and without ever depositing a penny I have cashed twice for over $200 each time. I still have over $200 in my account and I have yet to recieve one of those e-mails telling me that I will get a bonus % if i deposit money with them.

The fact they start their real money side games at $.10/$.20 and goes upto $2/$4 for now...I can play at any spread in between and there isn't too much pressure of loosing a lot of money.

I used to play at Paradise but hate having to email them and wait for a response. At dynamite they have a poker manager online and interactive with the tables..immediate response.

Sorry to ramble on. LOL

I would agree with BobL. If a casino is offering you outrages deposit bonuses. Think twice about it. Play a few freerolls and get used to the software. Get a feel for the people you play with. The games offered.

That is what i did at Dynamite and I have not been disappointed yet.

I true believe is something is too good to be true...It probably is...
