So much depends on the table and the players....

That being said, it's tough to say that this was a "bad" push. I usually like to have at least a K in my hand, or a more connected (or suited) Q than you had. Your fold equity will soon be gone, so you are under a lot of pressure to do something, and pushing certainly doesnt seem unreasonable. I would probably push this hand about 30% of the time here, depending, as I said, on how I felt about the table and the players.

I had pushed 2-3 times in the last few orbits and got a fold each time. As luck would have it, I had AK and AQ the previous pushes. I did have a slight feeling that the SB and BB were a bit tight and that is probably why I decided to push.

I do agree that this is situation dependent and maybe a 40-50% push for me.

At 5BB is when I get most aggressive. I would push this here unless the blinds were very loose. I would push 87s here and Q9 isnt much worse against the range of hands that will call you.

I would have pushed and have in that situation many times.

if your opponents will call with any pair, any ace, KQ-KT, QJ, then pushing here lowers your prize pool equity by .01. if they'll fold crappy aces, 22-44 and KT/QJ, then it increases your equity by .005.

you can't really pass up marginal +ev opportunities here when you're going to have nothing but -ev choices the rest of the way unless you get a miracle big hand.

Q9o does really bad against the range of hands that will call you though (K9 doesn't do any better, fwiw). 54s, 75s, T9o do meaningfully better.
