I have a 2001fp and a regular old 15" flat panel. I have a Radeon X300SE graphics card. when I hook the flat panel up in the regular slot, it's fine. but when I hook the 2001fp up in the DVI slot, the display in the 15" monitor goes black. is there a setting I need to change? any help on this would be greatly appreciated

Right click on the screen, select properties
Click on the settings tab
If you see two displays there, just click the 15" display, (2) and click the "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor"
If you don't see two displays, click the advanced button. The tab in the upper right should be the driver configuration for your card. There should be a setting in there to tell it to do dual view or spanning. I recommend dual view if you can get it, since the monitors can then have seperate resolutions.

Is it possible to use my laptops screen, and use my old CRT at the same time?

I'm pretty sure you can, you should have an analog plug at the back of your laptop. However I'm not sure if it allows you to have two seperate desktops (i.e. extending your existing desktop) or if it simply mirrors the screen on the CRT (like for a presentation or something).

It should be, most newer laptops have settings in the same place to let you have a display monitor as well as the laptop screen. Used mostly for Power Point presentations, but if the video hardware on the laptop supports it, you should be able to use it. It depends on the laptop.

my problem is though, that when I hook both monitors up, both go black. When I just have the 15" connected, everything is fine. it's as if the DVI connector just doesn't work

do I need to hook both up, then start up the computer?

Make sure you don't have Adobe Truetype installed, it does not play well with multiple monitors. Use add/remove programs to uninstall.

yes, they both need to be connected before you boot up. I think during startup/initialization is when your computer looks for monitors...

PM me if you have a problem...

I'm not seeing that tab. my upper right tab is Options, which has WMV Acceleration, Re-activate all warning messages, enable ATI taskbar icon application, disable quick resolution feature, reduce DVI frequency on high-resolution displays, alternate DVI operational mode

hmm I rebooted and now the 15" is working, but when I go to extend desktop, it's just extending the desktop into nothingness. the 2001fp is connected but it doesn't seem to want to extend the desktop onto it

Hi I am new to 2+2 and have the same question? Can I make it so that I can hook another monitor up to my laptop sort of like making one monitor half the screen and the other the other half so that I can do 8 tables easily?

I cannot find the specifics for the ATI version of the Radeon, they made the chip, just verifying they made the card and it was not some other company like Asus or MSI?

anyone? I have both monitors connected. the 15" one is working. the 2001fp is displaying a thing that says

1:D-SUB
Self test feature check
Red
Green
Blue
White

moving around like a screensaver. when I extend the desktop it just extends teh 15" monitors desktop, so I can move windows off the screen onto nowhere.
