View Full Version : Same peculiar experience at Party, UB, Para etc

I swear this is one of the weirdest phenomenons of internet poker i have experienced could be co-incidence (and probably is) but i am getting suspicious.

I first started at para, did OK for the first while, then lost a bit, but came back and made my first cashout a couple of weeks later. Then boom, I started losing session after session, until i gave up and never went back.

I then played partypoker, shortly after they opened up. I was winning like there was no tommorow....i caught the rivers i needed or the flops, and even when i had subpar hands, it was good enough to win against those AK power hands that came empty. First cashout...BOOM....bad beat after bad beat, and i was very careful not to change strategy. After enough losing sessions, was convinced i was either a bad player or had bad karma at that site.

Then i went to UB to try luck. First 4 weeks could not lose. Made about $2000 from 3-6 games in that time. Cashed out.....but luck continued....2 more weeks...cash out....BOOM....8 straight losing sessions....ridiculous beat after another to players raising with absolute crap pre flop and post flop...only to see them catch ridiulous turns and rivers for megapots......

Stopped UB....final try at pokerstars....i won first 9 sessions in a row, made over 2K in less than 3 weeks, and also placed in money in 3 of 4 tourneys i entered, played sound but also had a lot of luck.....fantastic......i finally had to cashout, but was very nervous to do so. Well i did, and SHAZAAMMM.....not a winning session since, losing repeatedly to gutshot river to runner runner. Bad beats happen, but not the frequency i experienced. A's capped preflop to 62 suited....A rag rag rainbow flop...capped...only to see 2 hearts on turn and riuver....i know it happens from time to time, but not at the rate of about 10 an hour.

It just doesnt make any sense for operators to do that, but i just cant understand or take it anymore. I am sticking to B&M from now on, where i do quite well. Only problem is, thewre is no land poker room within 2 hrs from here which makes it tough to stay away from inter net....

I NEED HELP..am i crazy or are there others with similar experiences.....any constructive comments are welcome.....

"i caught the rivers i needed or the flops, and even when i had subpar hands, it was good enough to win against those AK power hands that came empty"

Stop playing so many sub-par hands. I think that your problem starts there and continues when a few of the savvy players see you playing them. I like to see players playing those type of hands and winning with them. It re-enforces them and after the "luck" runs out they are just that . . . sub-par. Some players will enjoy punishing your limping hands by just playing tighter after you and raise a bunch. It is not that hard, after a few times around, they will have a good bead on your positional starting requirements. If you play in a smaller player base, say 2-3 tables full of the same players in the limits you like, it will not be long before the better players know your game and exploit those sub-par hands you are playing.

Either that, something else, or the house just does not like you login name.

when i said subpar hands that was not to mean i play subpar hands on a regular basis. what that meant...for instance...is i'm on bb with J8, there are no raises, and flop comes J 3 4, and the J holds up...for example.

Basically, hands where i was not strong enough to raise or bet, but still won.....

"It just doesnt make any sense for operators to do that..."

It makes perfect sense. Winning players are a big expense. They bust out the pigeons and that costs the site a ton of money when the have to be replaced.

I'm a new poker player who cut his teeth online.

After 4 consecutive winning months online I decide to try the local Brick and Mortor place. Guess what happens. My first 3 outings I come home each night a winner. My next 4 I come home a loser. I think the BM place mechaniced the deck to try to get me hooked in.

Anyone else have the same problem at one of these crooked Indian Casinos?

Can you say, "regression to the mean"?

No, I didn't think you could.

You've found the gold mine. Play on a site for 2-3 weeks until you lose a session and then quit. Repeat at every site till you've done them all. Changed screen names and repeat. You'll make 1000 a week playing online poker and never have to work again! You've found the secret.
