I figured I should book my hotel room far in advance for the first week of the WSOP in June, so I called the Rio Suites. The reservation clerk told me that the rates are $150 per night on Sunday-Thursday and $350 per night on Friday and Saturday. Well, I said thanks for the information.
I proceeded to call Harrah's to find out the poker players rate. They quoted me $115 per night Monday-Thursday and $315 on Friday and Saturday per night. I said thanks for the information.
I guess this year they are expecting a big crowd, so where am I gonna stay? Well, I happened to book a rate online for the Barbary Coast for $52.99 Sun-Thur and $109.99 on Friday and Saturday.
With the popularity of this event you better book now and try to find a decent place to stay.

Good Luck

if you go through Harrah's Total Rewards, the rates are a little bit better. I got an online quote for the Rio as follows:

June 1-8
$90-140 weekdays
$240 weekends

July 6-13
$190 weekdays
$240 weekends

and for Harrah's LV:
June 1-8
$100-140 weekdays
$270 weekends

July 6-13
$100 weekdays
$225 weekends

and then, Bally's and Flamingo are about 30% cheaper than those rates above. the Caesars-brand properties at least have their own poker rooms as well, unlike Barbary.

it's definitely better to book sooner than later but I don't think we're quite in all-out panic mode yet.

Of course by the time the WSOP rolls around all Caesars casinos will be own by Harrah's.

Any non-discounted summer rate at a decent hotel is gonna run you a lot of money. You need to try and get a casino/poker rate.
