Villain is unknown before today, but I have generally observed him as a being pretty loose and potentially aggressive. The read is not firm, but he is above standard 3/6 aggression level I am sure.

How do we feel about raising and folding to a 3 bet?

I would raise and call a 3-bet.

I feel that is one of the choices. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Against an unknown, but seemingly aggressive opponent?

We don't feel good about it.

I'd raise and call a 3-bet.

If he's aggressive, why not call the flop and raise the turn?

Since you played it like you did, I raise the river and call a 3-bet.

If he's aggressive, why not call the flop and raise the turn?

Cause that screams "big hand".

I don't get this. If he's bluffing, he'll just fold. Or, if he's bluffing with really big balls (unlikely, but possible), he'll 3-bet and push you off.

This seems like one of those lines that sounds cool and tough, but doesn't actually make much sense. I need more convincing before I rate this line higher than calling.

EDIT: Forget it. I see. He probably has a made PP which is lower than yours, maybe JJ or some such. Yes. I like a raise. What about possibly calling the 3-bet?

Yes, it does, but so what? He's not folding 77+ or 2 overcards on this board, especially if he's loose.

Whatever action I choose on the river, it's not going to include folding.

Even though he's aggressive and might be raising with lots of hands pre-flop, I'm guessing his most likely holding is a pair bigger than sixes that he thinks is good.

If it happens to be 77 or AA, that sucks, but I think much more often it will be 88-QQ and you'll win an extra couple bets by raising the river and calling a 3-bet.

perhaps, but he may fold other hands and 1) you miss out on the chance to have him 3-bet the flop and 2) its less likely he gets outta line on the big bet streets if you pop the turn.
