Hi guys. I feel like a virgin here. A short quick background of me. I've been playing online poker for a little over a year now. Although this is my first time posting, I've browsed around here for many months. I still have a lot to work on and I figured maybe this is a good source for advice.

Comments? Should I have done anything different? Thanks!

I think this could be a call on the river. It seems like a very strange way for villian to play a King, and I'm not conviced he has one.

I agree, Edge. I think against this type of opponent a river call will prove profitable. He easily could have the busted nut flush draw or QT. It is an unusual line with 3 kings, so I'm suspicious that he either has nothing or turned a boat.

Bet the turn. It is much more likely that he is drawing than that he has a K. Given that you checked the turn, call the river. It was much more likely that he was drawing and missed but felt weakness from your turn check rather than that he had a K.

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate it.

Yeah by checking the turn I showed weakness. I figured that if I had bet the turn, I would be pot committed and forced to go all-in with the remaining $60 I had left in a $90 pot. I'll consider calling the next time this comes up.

Another question: Hey edge, you said it was a very strange way to play a K. Lets say for example he did have a K, if you were in his shoes, how would you play it?

If he calls your raise and has a king in his hand, the only hand I see him having is AK. I doubt he would have check called with that hand, and then checked the turn. This smells like a bluff with a passively played A /images/graemlins/spade.gifQ /images/graemlins/spade.gif, he wouldn't play JJ or 44 that way either.

The check-call on the flop (with 2 spades) screams he doesn't have a king.

More than half of the time that river bet was a bluff. Less than half of the time he was slow playing his precious 44/JJ :-)
