This reminds me, I had a class (two people) in mandarin (pronunciation mainly)and our teacher, a really cool chinese lady with an awesome sense of humor, was telling us about how bad her other students pronunciation was. She said she wanted them to say "Wo chi fan," ~I eat food, but they kept pronouncing it "Wo chi fen (fun)" meaning "I eat [censored]" apparently.

Very weird that the words for food & [censored] would be that similar.

It's not that bad, assuming he didn't do it every day. Chinese food in China is supposed to be very different from Chinese food in the West, and from what my ex-told me when she went, includes of a lot of things most of us wouldn't want to eat. I can see that you might want to eat something familiar now and again.

When I list things I wouldn't want to eat, the Big Mac is right up there. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yah. I've not eaten at McDonalds in maybe 10 years. But if it was that or my fourth helping of pigs trotters, I might be tempted.

Hm, why are you posting about this now individual? I was in China two weeks and had Chinese breakfasts, lunches and dinners which I liked a lot, more than American food. I just ate KFC once and McDonalds once or twice for a little change and because I was with a group of people.

I ate at McDonalds in China simply to see what the difference was. I probably also ate a hundred Chinese food meals in a row besides that mcdonalds.

The more pertinent question is: what kind of [censored] sees bruiser's post and makes another post just harping on that one facet?
