My read on villain is that he's very LAG, very crazy. VP%IP 73.33, PFR 14.96. From the hand histories I have, he's shown down some very questionable hands and gone way too far with many of them.

why call the minreraise on the flop when you know you will fold to further aggression?

I actually wasn't sure that I was going to fold to further aggression. It depended on what the turn card was and what villain decided to do with it. On the flop, I thought that there was a decent chance that I had the best hand. When the offsuit 2 came on the turn and he pushed, I figured I had to have been beat, although I would not be surprised to see that villain had been getting ultra-aggro with something like AK or 66.

What about the call the flop.

call the turn

call the river line?

In hindsight, that probably would have been the best way to play it. The thing was that, like I said, this player was a maniac and had basically been pushing at every flop, and I just decided to take a stand and push back. After I folded, I realized that given how crazy aggressive he was, I could easily find a better spot to bust him.

yeah, the thing with the call it down line is that its tough to do when an over pops and you can't do it if he pushes any of the streets.

I hate playing lags with marginal hands. I think typically I raise the flop like you did and fold to the reraise.

It doesn't sound like this is the kind of guy you can "fold to further aggression" against. It seems as if him putting in an extra raise after you raise means very little. The question is... he has shown down very marginal hands in the past. Has he shown down AK/AQ on boards like this? I think I'd be very tempted to get it all-in.

People say you should wait against maniacs for a clear-cut spot where you are ahead, but the problem is he may not be around for much longer if he keeps playing like that. I'd rather go ahead and get it all-in in a spot where you most likely are ahead and have +ev in the long run.

Looking through hand histories, I've seen a couple of spots where he's gotten really aggressive with stuff like 95 on a JJ9 board, so something like 66 or A3 is possible. I haven't seen him get too aggressive with stuff like A high, but he has played some very weird hands (Q3s, Q8o) out of the blinds, so something crazy like J7 is possible. Basically, I think that I probably should have called the push and taken it down from a lower 2 pair.

I raise the flop and fold to the re-raise, too. Even LAGs get overpairs occasionally.

I think we need to look at not only how LAG has been playing his crap hands but how he has been playing his made hands.

I just don't think we can rule out the case 7 in this hand.

I still look for better spots.

He's kind of a "bet with nothing, check with something" type player. I've only seen him play with one made hand, and it was with a flush he made on the river where he bet the flop, bet the turn, checked the river from EP. I don't think that he would have played a 7 this fast, but like I said, I probably folded the best hand, but knew that I'd find a way to bust him later.
