Antes make alot more preflop play possible. I dont know why casinos dont spread no limit this way. It would make the games much more interesting.

Antes encourage action, but they may also encourage the table to dissolve rapidly. On your last orbit, would you want to throw in the ante UTG, or would you just leave? If you leave, that would make the next player UTG at a table that might break up within the orbit. You might start a chain reaction.

It may be annoying to have chips of different values for the antes and bets, but that works out ok in stud, I believe.

Well I have seen the breaking table phenomenon with blinds all that much stronger.

Why not just have higher blinds relative to the maximum buy-in? If the game needs more action, make the BB 2% of the maximum buy-in instead of 1%. The problem with antes is that they really slow down a game.

The main difference with antes i think is you can make the blind steal a more profitable strategy. most of the games i have played in casinos such as 5,5 no limit have had alot of people limping in the pot which makes it play quite a bit different.

5/5 No Limit is definitely a superior game, in my opinion, than the 1/2 No Limit one.

I had wondered about the difference between a 1/2 game and a 5/5 game. (Not so much the absolute magnitude of the blinds, just their size relative to each other.) When you say the game is superior, Barron, how do you mean? Easier for a TAG to make money, I take it? And why is that? Does the 5/5 structure encourage loose limpers? Sorry for the elementary questions, just have absolutely no experience of what two equally sized blinds does to a no-limit game.
