Should I have bet the river or took the free check like I did. He is a loose fish and I put him on Jacks with a shitty kicker.

river check is fine. If you put him on J then you would be beat. The check could have been an attempted to get you to bet..

I would have done the same.

Don't reraise QQ preflop unless your opponent is loony. Flop bet isn't big enough. River check is good.

Yes, I was thinking I could make the flop bet bigger. That actually would have scared him off most likely though. What is wrong with reraising preflop?

I didn't realize it was a minraise. (Although someone minraising UTG+1 could perhaps meet my definition of loony.)

Besides increasing your flop bet a few bucks I would have done the same thing.

Against a thinking player who raises UTG+1, you're looking at AA, KK, QQ, AK, JJ and possibly TT or AQ. You're not doing great against those hands, and if you reraise and get 3-raised, you're definitely behind. It's better to call and take a look at the flop, especially since you have position and can see how he reacts to it.
