BB is a maniac gambler type who does fun stuff like cap 72 preflop. MP3 is a bigtime LAG. I was going to raise the turn. how do we feel about the plan, and the fold? there was no showdown, so I don't know if I had the best hand, but I think I could've

This is fine. I think he has an A or better often enough to make cold calling wrong. I mean, he has to be assuming that BB, at least, is calling his raise.

On a flop like that, is calling the checkraise and waiting for the turn really so bad? If so, it's a mistake I'm making too often.

I suppose it does sort of invite what took place on the turn, though. And it would be nice if there were a larger number of "safe" turn cards to hope for.

Against a maniac and a LAG, I might get stubborn and stay in on the turn. But I think I do that too often. When I've got something that's starting to look marginal and two other players are showing interest in the hand, I don't seem to take the pot (or find out I folded the winner) very often.

But that's at 2/4. Anyway, I don't know what's best on the turn, but to me the fold seems fine.

yuck, what a horrid turn!

I hate this type of hand, and i'm folding 99.5/100 (that .5 is when i'm feeling frisky and just stubborn, and i'm in a chip spewing frenzy /images/graemlins/wink.gif )

If we knew that maniac was done I MAY, and that's a HUGE MAYBE, make a bad call here, but since maniac likes to gamble, I don't want to have to follow one bad call w/ another if it gets capped back to me.

fold, wait for a better spot

in theory, I think waiting for the turn to raise is fine. I'm attempting to deceive my opponents into giving me an extra SB. the problem with deceiving them is that I underrepresent my hand, which makes it a lot harder to figure out what my opponents have. they're interpreting me as being weak, and their actions are somewhat affected by how I presented my hand. if I pumped the flop, his range of raising hands on the turn would be a lot more narrow

Well put.

I'm thinking that one hand your flop call might represent to your opponents is a big ace. (Well, I think that would be the case at 2/4, anyway.) So that's another reason I would feel uncomfortable on the turn. But I'd imagine LP preflop raises to buy the button are fairly common at 15/30, so my thoughts about the ace probably don't apply so much to this hand.
