Are there any sites that you can watch televised sporting events (or even non-televised) via internet?

Even if there are any, I think it is very uncommon. TV networks genearlly do not want to risk diversifying into internet broadcasting as this reduces the number people watching the ads in tv, and advertisers do not really like that as TV is a very powerful medium.

The only one I know of is ESPN offering their college football package in the fall on the net. My brother got this last year and he loved it.

That's kind of what I thought, but I had to ask.

Then again, if it was the exact same broadcast (commercials and all) the TV stations/broadcast companies would lose nothing.

MLB.tv

Greatest thing ever. You can watch nearly every single game during the season.

Not true, TV broadcasters would stand to lose a lot if internet broadcasting took off.

The simple reason is because most TV ads are region-based, or state-based. Advertisers are keen to invest money onto advertisements that can be directed at a specified region or country, and this obviously would not be true if internet broadcasting became extremely popular.

Good point.
