We've only been down this road about a zillion times.

Go ahead and do a search.

Many here that the weak-tight advice in WLLHE will make you a winner on the fishy games. If yuo are playing really badly it will help guide you towards playing tight, which is half the battle.

Many here also believe that the concepts taught in SSHE will not only help you to CRUSH the fishier games but will also give you the foundation to become even more expert at the game in the future.

Thus, SSHE is better than WLLHE....although that doesn't mean that WLLHE won't make you a winner in certain games...it just means that it's not as good, nor as technical, nor as comprehensive, nor as aggressive.

I like SSH better because I want to win more money. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Basically...

WLLH = simple and will win you a little money
SSH = complex and will win you a lot of money

Hopefully you know based upon your intelligence and present poker ability which one is appropriate for you.

The search feature sucks. But still, lots of questions pop up 100 times and it really gets annoying. This topic has had at least HUGE thread that I can remember, with lots of contributions from Lee Jones and Ed Miller themselves. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Find it.

I read Internet texas hold'em and skiped WLLH. I plan to pick-up and read SSH very soon. That reminds me we could use a trade/FS/WTB forum here.

Is it allowed around here to post a request to trade thread?

I believe WLLH is -EV. I made at least 20-30 more BB's tonight because I bet or raised hands Lee would fold. Now that I think of it I believe my 40 BB winning session would have been in the red.

SSH is the best book on poker period. Unless, that is, you are an exellent or world class player then it's TOP.

In many ways, this whole question is like comparing apples to oranges. When you come down to it, the books are written for different audiences.

WLLH is a beginner's book, SSH is an advanced book (well maybe advanced intermediate).

What kind of poker player are you? Are you a casual player, maybe a home game a couple of times a month. Occasional on-line play. Go to the casino once or twice a year?

If so, are you going to put in the time to learn SSH?

Do you want to take poker seriously and invest the time to learn to be the best player at the low-stakes games that you can be?

If so, you probably will be disappointed with WLLH.

The overwhelming consensus here is that SSH is the better book, BUT you have to put the time in to really understand the concepts. SSH is not the book that you can run out and buy to read on your flight to Vegas. Seriously, I feel that if you apply the concepts in this book haphazardly and without understanding them, you'll be a -ev player.

That being said -- I would recommend WLLH for someone who has played a bit, and feels that they want to get better NOW. It's easy to read, and easy to understand, and easy to follow. I think I've even read posts from Mason admitting that the Second Edition is a good beginners book.

Anyway, the short answer -- if you're willing to put the time in, get SSH. If not, you're probably better off with WLLH.
