Ive been using the Mach 3 and only the Mach 3 since it came out. However, I have a free Schick Quattro on the way thanks to slickdeals.

After I try the Quattro, will the Mach 3 find its way to the trash?

I've been a faithful user of the Mach 3 since it's invention.

I always used a M3, but when the Quatro came out, I purchased one, and threw away my M3.

MISTAKE!

The quatro feels like you are shaving with a rubber band. it's too mushy (I don't really know how to better describe it)
The M3 is waaay better, IMO.

I use the Mach 3. My roommate has the one that vibrates (i forget the name, some variation of the Mach 3). I've never used it but I have turned it on to see what it was like. It seems like it would be really uncomfortable. Anyone use that?

p.s. I would ask him but I don't think he has a single hair on his face and I'm not even really sure why he has it.

Isn't it the Mach 3 Turbo?

Having always used the M3, I picked up the vibrating version just for the heck of it. I dunno if the vibration adds anything in shaving ability, but it feels kinda neat. *shrug*

It will work with M3 or M3turbo blades, so it doesn't really cost anything to get one and try it, if you just buy the kit that comes with blades.

For the OP, I dunno, never used the Quattro...

No thats the one I have. The turbo is the same as the same as the normal one, just a different name. Kinda like teh Mach 3 Champion that is just red.

I just went and looked. Its the M3 Power. Discuss.

I have the Mach3 power, if only because I told my mom I needed a new razor, and she came back with this green thing. I like it, it's just as good as a regular Mach3, and it's not really that different of a feeling on your face. It definitely feels weird in your hands though.

I should point out that I shaved with an electric until my 18th birthday when Gilette sent me a free Mach3 and shaving cream. I've been there's ever since. That's some good marketing.

Mach 3, and I shave my head almost everyday.

Evan

haha, me too. That free razor was awesome.

The Quattro is awful. I used it twice and out it went. Back to the Mach 3 for me.

I always wondered how they got my birthdate and address. It wasn't like I was filling out cc applications at 17, or signing up for the Weekly Razor newsletter. I certainly was happy with it though.

i was a die hard mach 3 man for a long time, i am half-japanese so i have really tough facial hair (and not enough for a good lookin goat, so have to shave every day.)

i got a "norelco reflex plus" electric for xmas though- i was pleasently suprised that it worked so well, and now the mach3 only comes out for dates, meetings, etc.

Yea, I don't know how they figure it out. Pretty much all of my friends got the same thing except for one guy. We could never figure out why he didn't get one.

mmbt0ne

That's MUCH funnier than wondering why you did get one.

Evan
01-21-2005, 10:55 PM
haha, yea. I actually think the guy that didn't was edtost (posting name) so maybe he'll come by later and inform us as to why he is not deserving of Gillete's gifts.

The M3 Power is way better than the M3 or M3 Turbo. Way, way better.

Why? It seems like it would be very weird to have it vibrating while I shave.

IF you're not using the M3 power, you're missing out.

My main concern before I bought it was fear that I'd replace the battery so often it wouldn't be cost effective. However, I'm currently into month 3 of battery #1 and it's still going strong.

As for actual shaving, I find it's greatest relative assest is shaving longer/tougher facial hair. If I shave every day, I don't notice much difference between turing the razor on or leaving it off. However, if I let myself go, I find it reduces the number of strokes needed to get a clean shave. I also find it irritates less as I find myself being more gentle with the Power on.

Best marketing ploy EVER!

Of the people I know who don't use electric, 100% use Gillete for this reason alone.

hahaha, tableball rules!! And Ed was a major tableball fish, me and scrub cleaned him out.

Yeah, you can't really feel it vibrate though. It's just way, way smoother and less irritating. And like somebody else said, the battery's not a pain in the ass, which isn't really a plus, but it's a lack of a minus.

M3 Power (which is better than Mach 3 Turbo which is better than Mach 3)

good shaving cream is also important... the cheap crap is just that. At least go to your local Body Shop and pick up some of their shaving cream. The past year I've been using Zirh Shaving Cream (http://www.zirh.com) and it works well. However, my sister brought back some l'Occitane Cade Shaving Cream (http://www.loccitane.com/) from France for me and find it better than the Zirh.

Do you really need the M3 power when you probably only shave like once a month?

The quattro has several vertical wires over the blades. These cause hair to get stuck in the blades, which cannot be rinsed out easily. So you only get 1 or 2 nice strokes of your razor before it turns to a crappy, uneven shave.

Any version of Mach 3 is far and away better than Quattro

Gillette also sent me a razor/shaving cream for my 18th birthday (it was the 2-blade one at the time though) and I use the Mach 3 now. Will need to try the turbo.

I have friends who have tried the quad 4 thing and all of them have switched back to their mach 3's.
