what does it take to master these tournaments really??

I mean I am a winning 5-10 10-20 player but I seem to come up short in these tournaments.

i have only played like 20 and finsihed in the money like 4 times so I know that it isnt a lot of games played but still.

My marginal hands always seem to loose..

Like when I have AK vs QQ or JJ it looses but when I have QQ vs AK ak wins.

It is not my intention to bitch about bad beats but I assume some luck is involved too.

This would not have bothered me if I didnt have to see players who I rate much much worse than myself go on to make killer winnings after busting me with 3 outers and such.

I am interested in hearing from all of you but from the players I see making killer in these events especially.

i am referring to slimmouse, steedyeddy, playitsafe, TUFFTURF, ZIVTLV, pokerpup..and other s I cant remember as I am writing this.

PLEASE respond..

I am perticularly looking for advice on playing a small to medium stack in NL when the antes come into effect. And yes my grammar sucks you DO not need to mention it.

Good players rarely do well in online tourneys for the reason that luck plays about an 85 % role.

Now if you can get to the final table skill is involved but with the first 4 or so blinds it is pure luck with plenty of fishes waiting for their river card.

also, iam going to vegas in 3 weeks and i was wondering if there are any decent Low limit buyin tournaments there that arent a total crapshot...

(like the ones at luxor and mandalay bay)

i am looking for tournaments where you start off with some chips and where the rounds arent 2 minutes long.

Apreciate your answers.

PS also, anyone know if a pokercasino in LA has a good roomrate iam thinking like 30 bucks a night.

I've never played in a NL tourney that was structured so the final table stacks were big enough for skill to be much of a factor. The blinds are so big at that point you almost can't make a mistake.

caveat: I have not played many tourneys compared to most others, as I generally don't like tourneys.

"i have only played like 20 and finsihed in the money like 4 times".

That's 1 in 5 that you've cashed, which isn't bad at all. 1 in 4 and you should be making a good return on your $.

The WSOP in at the Shoe in downtown LV through the last week of May.
