Does anybody own Tangiers chips? Or has anybody seen them in action? They are brass and 16.5 grams.

I pity da fool who buys those chips. Sorry - couldn't resist.

Haven't seen them, but 16.5g seems WAY too heavy to me...

I have one that I got as a sample. Not bad. I read a post on another board that they don't fit well in racks.

Yeah I've got one of each color just to have for the heck of it, they're cool to dink around with but I can't see having an entire set (imagine what 500 of those chips weighs, wait... almost 9 kilograms which is just about 20 pounds. =)

I have a couple too. I can't imagine playing with them. They make decent card protectors though.

I don't know.. I think I might order one of the $1000 chips of this set for my card protector.

I could see them damaging tables too. And probably hard to shuffle properly. I decided to go with the Nexgen chips. I'm finally going to replace my plastic diamond chips that I got about 8 years ago.

Chew on this: I've got samples of brass inlay chips from Matsui, what they call their "Gold Chip," and they are a whopping 25 grams each. They are heavy as hell, very well made, nice looking, and very expensive. $2.50 each, wholesale, plus fees.

Wow! 25 grams is ridiculous!

Still, probably no match for a plaque though... /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yeah the 'gold chip' is crazy heavy. Not bad for a 'winner's token' or something though.

I got their sample pack too. The gold chip definitely reminded me of the tangiers chip. Some of the Matsui chips are decent.

They appear to be high quality chips. But a weak dollar and a company used to dealing only with casino orders makes Matsui a tough one for a home set.
