The way he played the turn, I would give him credit for a straight, 2-pair, or set.

Of those, the only hand that you beat is T9 (and to a lesser degree T7 or 97).

Therefore, I would just call the river bet. You lose 2 bets when behind and only gain 1 bet when ahead. I think you are behind a good majority of the time.
