OK, so I was just about to finish my session for the night, so I decided that I'd play this hand, which I'd usually drop from UTG. My question is wheter you think that my hand is good and I lost value, or if I was right to take it down on the turn.

not much of a NL player myself but this looks standard.

My question was that basically, the only hands I'm beating are 97, 96, 93 and 92, none of which would be in a raised pot, so I'm behind any hand that could call here, unless the guy won't let go of his overpair. Granted 67 has an OESD, but an 8 would fill me up, and 78 has a gutshot, but the likelyhood of either of those still being in is very suspect.

So basically, should I have bet less to extract more from an overpair, or was I right to bet the turn.

BB looks like a 5 or pocket pair that was taking a stab on the flop. Your opponents may very well be drawing dead on the turn (in fact most likely are unless MP2 has an overpair) so checking behind on the turn is not such a bad play. If MP2 has Ace Big you can gain a bet if he hits on the river. Your play smells of trips here, but I don't like raising the flop because it is too likely to eliminate MP2 who is drawing to runner on you and thus should be allowed in at most costs.

The problem with checking behind on the turn is you can't build big pots by checking and you're playing 98s to win a big pot.

I probably play it the same way, but I think checking the turn and betting / raising the river has potential.

I figured MP2 for a big PP, so I realized that he was drawing to 2 outs. He took a long time to fold on the turn. BB, I suspect had nothing and was just trying to pick up the pot with the paired board on the flop, since he was out of the hand right away.
