The king? With a board of 7-7-7-7-J a person goes all in and says "I have the king"?

This isn't commonplace in L.A. games?

The better move is to call with AK and then slowroll the guy. Then of course you humiliate the guy. Straight out of Theory of Poker.

"I have the king also."

"And the ace too."

"You're not a card player, you play cards."

Andy,

I almost forgot about that. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I highly anticipate the first time someone advertantly slowrolls me at a card room or the first time I hear someone say the phrase "You're not a card player, you play cards."

You should start typing "next case" in the chat every every time you win a showdown online.

That guy was terrible. In his position, not only would I have played that hand infinitely better, but I woulda got the girl too. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Will these words ever be uttered again?

"I only date card players."

When I get caught bluffing and table my nothing hand, I'll frequently point proudly to the higher of the two and say (for example) "I've got the jack". Always puzzles them and forces them to re-analyze the board. Never got anyone to muck though, but I figure I just need to be even more confident when I point to the card and it'll happen eventually.

"Nothing hand my fanny." He's got the second nuts. She has the nuts. Bad beat, TILT is rigged.

I'd rather nail the Matador's daughter than the card chick, and I'm 20x as promising as Eddie.

I love it Clarkmeister. That has to add a quarter bet an hour in EV.

With that board and a pair of jacks in the hole, you could argue that you have a really, really, BIG full house. Just say 'Sevens Full' and reach for the pot. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was playing NL in AC and two players got allin preflop for ~1k apiece (blinds were 5/10).

the one guy, who seemed kind of clueless, looks at the other guy and says with complete seriousness "I've got the queen". he flips over QTo with supreme confidence. of course he busts the guy with KK when he hits two pair on the river. what a game that was /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I don't know why but thread reminded me of a story I heard some time ago. Two guys are playing NLHE heads up. The money is deep. They put in a couple raise before the flop. Before the dealer puts up the flop the first player says to the second "would you like to trade hands?" The second player thinks for a bit and says "ok"; so they trade hands. The flop comes and it goes check check. Th turn comes and it is checked again. The river comes and the first players moves all in. The second player thinks for a bit and then calls. The first player shows the nuts and asks "why did you call?" The second player says "I couldn't remember what I gave you."

I've had something similar to that happen in a 2/4 game.

Heads up on the river, the board is 10-J-Q-K-A, no flush possibility.

I flip over my cards and say "straight to the ace". The guy stares at the board, checks his cards, and then mucks.

I actually do this all the time, and got somebody to fold once. I had AKs and went 4 bets on a 444 flop. I checked the turn, and river, and proudly declared "I caught my flush" as I tabled my runner runner. He shook his head and tossed his cards in the muck, then as the dealer started puching me the pot cried out "Oh Sh[/i]it!"

I also like to thow my cards down enthusiastically and declare "send it" when I bet my busted draws and get called.

Good times.

so the guy with the king went all in and the guy with the ace called. was it the 20-40 bigger no limit game? or something else?

andyfox
02-04-2005, 12:52 AM
No limit. Board was 7-7-7-J on the turn. Guy makes a big bet with K-Q. A-K calls. River is the case 7. K-Q puts his opponent all in.

"My brother actually does this....(he's 15)"

With no disrespect meant towards your brother (I have a 15 year old son), that's about the maturity level to which such a comment is appropriate.

I havent read the other post , but , it wouldn't be a lie to say that if his hand was K & A .

Too , it's not ethical , & maybe not legal to say that , whatever if its true or not .

I figured the first person to read that that I know would reply in a similar fashion. I was just trying to figure out who it would be.

Well played.
