View Full Version : A rich guy's options at the Bellagio....

Say a really rich guy (i.e. Bill Gates) walks into the Bellagio... what would be his highest EV game in the casino? Would a table game be higher EV than playing the 'big game'? I know Gates knows how to play hold'em, so it's not like he'd be a total novice, but he'd obviously be at a disadvantage. So where would the 'big game' rank? highest EV? If not, about where would it rank in terms of table games?

his best bet is probably craps, bet don't pass and lay full odds.

they'd never let him do it, but he could afford to could do martingle- probably at baccaratt or BJ.

playing in the "big game" would probably be his WORST option. bill gates plays holdem, but he plays 3/6.

not like that is any less negative EV than just playing baccarat or BJ regularly.

i disagree- the casino's ability to profit in games like BJ, roulette and baccaratt is based on limits on the betting ammounts: bill gates has enough money to literaly put the casino allin many times over, if they let him. to lose his money he'd have to lose several bets in a row before the casino lost one.

still -EV for him. maybe he busts the casino, but it's a -EV game.

BJ is NOT a -EV game if played correctly.

uh oh now you are backpedaling.

besides the original question assumed that bill gates would walk in as is, in other words, he is not fit to play in the big game, and presumably he doesn't know how to count cards.

i'll give you one more chance to say something correct, then i'll just write this off

Only if you mean by played correctly that he can count cards.

i don't understand the 'backpedling' comment- have i missed something?

besides, i kinda drifted away from "as is" and was trying to explain that an effectivly unlimited roll and no betting limits = death to the casino.

yeah... you were talking about a martingale system, and you even mentioned baccarat. i then said that it would still be -EV, and you replied with, "well BJ is a +EV game if you play it right".

backpedal.

His best option is to bankroll someone who can win.

This might not be what you're looking for, but this is how you most effectively wield your bankroll.

You blackmail the casino with the threat that you're going to put them all-in on a game of baccarat/craps multiple times with your huge BR, and ask them to pay you money so you don't carry out their threat.

You ask them to pay up so they don't risk a more than 70% chance of going broke, depending on how much they can take.

Best used in a small casino you can effectively put your chips w/ the best of it multiple times and of course, no limits to how much you can bet.

Or you can try to get a bunch of idiots to play 100k/200k poker or higher so you can rely on variance to bust them for playing too high for their BR.

How many times odds does the Bellagio offer?
I know Sam's Town offers high odds bets.

yeah, but i was assuming that a 2+2 poster would know. (which you did). i've only applied card counting while casino whoring online, it's very hard to do, since its usually hard to determine when the shuffle occurs, but it seems to have worked pretty well at the single deck boss media sites- my sample size is WAYYYY too small to be sure.

ok, this proves to me that you are officially insane. online sites use a continuous shuffle. you can't count cards for BJ online.
