Shocking that Americans know so little of national and world news and events, isn't it?

Here are the top-6 stories based on the number of times read/clicked on the Seattle PI's web site today. Keep in mind that the latest in world, national, and state news is front and center on their web site. And some sort of Presidential event took place from what I heard.

1. Conservative group targets 'pro-homosexual' SpongeBob video
2. Off the Wall: What do we really know about Mike Hargrove?
3. Woman gives birth to giant baby
4. People in the News: Ty has an extreme day with appendix makeover
5. Sele returns home to Mariners
6. Jumbo squid wash onto California beaches

Pathetic that this is only number 6. Jumbo isn't your run of the mill word, and I know for damned sure I wouldn't be able to stop myself from checking this link.

Study: Watching Fewer Than Four Hours Of TV A Day Impairs Ability To Ridicule Pop Culture (headline from the current The Onion).
This headline should have been made to include or specify the news. The news is so [censored] worthless.

Mrs VulturesRow has had three. Missing the usual pain of normal child birth is more than offset by the recovery time from the surgery.

It might be shocking if people of other countries didn't know so little or even less about such things as well.

You really shouldn't make uninformed generalities about other countries, you know.

That's the kind of thing they do in Russia.

You're right, I was wrong to think other countries also read tabloid and sports and other "dumb" stories en masse instead of paying very close attention to world-related issues. Every country in the world's citizens are far more up-to-date on national and global issues than Americans, I'm sure.

I'll ask my brother's way-too-smart Russian wife what she thinks about your comment so that I, too, can be up-to-date.

I just think it's awesome that a great author like DMZ (the guy who wrote the Hargrove story) is getting hits!. Go Derek.

You've got a Seattle guy as your avatar, you know.

Bill Nye was great on Almost Live, back in the day. Speedwalker and the High Fivin' White Guys were classic.
