Hello All,
I was looking for some help with a recurring situation in my weekly home
game. We've been running this game weekly for the better part of a year
now so I feel like everyone has a good read on the playing style of
everyone else in the game. However, there is one other player in
particular that I play live with weekly, heads-up online, and discuss
general strategy and the play of certain hands with multiple times in a
week. Consequently, we have nearly impeccable reads on each others' games.
It's gotten to the point where we can call each others' hands with
frequency and success.
Last night he used this dynamic to push me off a huge pot on the river
with a stone cold bluff. Despite my frustration and resulting tilt, I had
to admit that it was a great play on his part. Now, the advice I seek from
you oh sagely RGP'ers, is how I can adjust my game to throw him off
balance. Should I raise with suited connectors from LP (something I don't
usually do)? Play drawing hands super aggressively? Wait till the turn to
show strength with big hands? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Against unknown opponents online I have a good deal of success playing
tight aggressive and sticking to a very select number of starting hands. I
can't win anymore with this strategy in my home game against known
opponents. Looking forward to the responses. Thanks,
Adam
