What would a fresh new sport be? What would it be like?

I think it would need guns or tigers.

I've actually thought about this seriously many times.
It would be great for a new sport to develop in the next decade or so.

I don't have any legitimate (or funny) ideas, but it's my belief that there is a big market for a new sport in the coming years.

I really thought the XFL was gonna take off.

I think snowboarding counts as a brand new sport to take off in the last decade. It used to be just burnout skateboarders and now it's an olympic event.

I think a sport simlar to rugby but where you can also throw the ball forward would be quite cool.

Shot put rejection:

Like rejecting a jumper in basketball. Only you use a shot put. Two players start 10 feet apart and the shotputter has to put his shot before the rejecter slams it back in his face.

a game my friend and I created was:
Frisbee tennis

-you have to be hungover
-you have to be stoned
-it has to be sunny
-you play like normal tennis

its actually quite fun.

Oh yeah? I never saw the movie. Guess that makes my idea stupid then. but something dealing with contact and a shotput would still be awesome.

I seem to remember sfthief, Evan, and/or sfer coming up with some game while they were waiting for someone. Maybe they can fill us in with the specifics.

Edit: found it. It's Evan and scrub.

Initial attempts to play with the large paper-mache “research devices” (they looked like big versions of Labyrinth (http://www.ehobbies.com/tg-cr-190.html), but apparently then were for science) failed miserably when we discovered we didn’t have a ball to use with them. Luckily, Evan noticed that Tash’s advisor had just gotten a new computer with an old-school mouse. Score!

After attempts to pick up the labyrinth looking thing resulted in putting big gashes in the wall of the office, Evan and I decided it was time to think outside of the box. The result—TableBall!!!!

TableBall looks a lot like Evan and I winging a mouse ball at each other across a conference table, except with gambling and property damage. Also, Edtost was the TableBall fish.

Here were the official rules of TableBall:

(1) $1 per point.
(2) Ball must hit the table before scoring.
(3) Hitting goal posts (stuck together staples) counts as a point.
(4) Regulation table is 12’ x 4’.
(5) Goal posts shall be 9’’ from the table’s edge.
(6) Hitting Flushed (Tash) is bad.
(7) Opponents sit at opposite ends of the TableBall table and take turns winging the ball at each other, trying to get the ball to go off of the table in between the goal posts.

Final score: Scrub (5), Evan (3) EdFish (1). When you count the side-game action with Evan, I cleared $9 in an hour of TableBall. I’m thinking about going pro, but I’m not sure my sample size is high enough to determine my true win rate yet…

[The turning point in Evan and scrub's HU match was when scrub perfected the bounce shot and Evan injured the tip of his thumb in a game preserving save. --Evan]

Eventually, we managed to leave Princeton, after Evan got his revenge by desecrating Tash’s bathroom with a post discount sushi visit.

Live Action Frogger or hockey without the ice, puck, sticks, uniforms, helmets and padding. They could call it "Ultimate Fighting."

I've got another idea but I'm not really sure if this would count as a sport... it seems more like a reality TV game. Anyway, you take six rich white guys wearing suits and Rolexes, you dump em off in South Central LA and the last one to get robbed wins.
