Good News For People Who Love Bad News is an awesome album. I'd have to say it's arguably the best of 2004.

My friend showed me this band like 3-4 years ago. I hated them then and I still hate them now. I'm impressed they've gotten this popular, I suppose do to the mainstream explosion of indie bands.

Oh, and as far as that being the best album of 2004, no way in hell. Mos Def and Bjork both had much better CDs, a few other bands had CDs that blew it out of the water as well.

in my opinion this album is over-produced and doesnt sound like modest mouse. i listen to their older stuff often, but after listening to good news maybe 10 times, i doubt that ill ever put it back in again.

I agree that it doesn't sound like their older stuff and is quite produced. I usually go the way you do on this stuff, but I actually liked Good News... better than the older stuff.

I can't stand Modest Mouse, personally. A lot of it boils down to my hate of the lead singer's voice.

Chutes Too Narrow and Oh, Inverted World by the Shins
Electric Version and Mass Romantic by the New Pornographers
umm, and Scenes From a Memory by Dream Theater /images/graemlins/smile.gif

"Oh, inverted world" isn't as good as it's made out to be. MM (moon and antarctica at least) kicks ass. Dream Theater is arguably the worst band ever.
