View Full Version : AK unimproved against a maniac and 2 random cards

Live 4-8 game. The Maniac will raise preflop with any two cards. He will bet out and reraise the flop with anything, even an unpaired and hopeless hand. His raises mean literally nothing and put not the least bit of fear into me. I had yet to see him call down with just a high card, but I would not put that past him.

I get A /images/graemlins/spade.gifK /images/graemlins/diamond.gif in the small blind. Maniac raises from under the gun. It's folded to me, I 3-bet, the BB folds and the Maniac calls.

At this point, I read that I was up against any 2 random cards. This guy was truly crazy.

Assuming that the above statement is true, is it correct to keep firing bets in a heads-up situation?

This is what I did:
The final board was some garbage like
Q /images/graemlins/spade.gif2 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif6 /images/graemlins/club.gif8 /images/graemlins/heart.gif4 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I three-bet preflop, three-bet the flop, and led out betting on both the turn and river.

Results aside, is this the correct play with AK against 2 random cards?

on the flop, at best, your edge is small. watch what happens:

Flop:

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

random: 45.1372 % [ 00.45 00.01 ] { random }
AsKd: 54.8628 % [ 00.54 00.01 ] { AsKd }

----------------------------------------------------------
Turn:

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

random: 53.0369 % [ 00.53 00.00 ] { random }
AsKd: 46.9631 % [ 00.47 00.00 ] { AsKd }

----------------------------------------------------------

River:

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

Hand 1: 63.9899 % [ 00.64 00.00 ] { random }
Hand 2: 36.0101 % [ 00.36 00.00 ] { AsKd }

in other words, I'd shovel my chips in preflop, but once the flop comes out, I'd check-raise if I had somethign, ro check-call if I didn't
