Salt, did he give you a reason to slow down?

Mike Gallo

Preflop you can raise with 88 from this position against one limper from the cutoff. So long as the cutoff will not limp with hands like AK AQ AJ 10 10.

I like the flop raise.

I like the turn bet.

I like the river bet.

Against a typical non thinking opponent I would say so.

Now, I'm asking you, did he give you a reason to slow down?

Yeah, you've heard is. Raise prelfop. Rest of the hand is fine.

You have an overpair and he hasn't told you to slow down. It's correct in this situation and it will be correct in the vast majority of situations that you get top pair or better.

Heres a basic comment: Use the damn "Condense first round option" option on bison's convertor. I spent way too long trying to figure why there was so much action when everyone was folding. Amatuer.

Damn Bud Lights. Get ya everytime.

Why doesn't bison have that on by default?

I'm not trying to be rude or anything but I don't understand why you're posting the hand. After 10k posts, you know the postflop play is fine. As I'm reading though the hand, I'm just not sure what you want us to say about it. Are we commenting on the preflop call instead of raise? The flop raise? or the turn and river bets? By not giving us much to go on, its hard for us to help you identify your weak spots.

some of us signed up for this forum to discuss poker, and some of us signed on this forum to discuss poker only to not discuss poker because we waste lots of time in OOT.
anyways, as for why there is not much info, sorry, but it was one of my first hands at the table, so I had no reads.

Because that book isn't the bible and it doesn't include how to deal with shorthanded situations like one stupid person limping in EP and you holding a mid-pocket pair in LP, like the CO.

Just so you know, this is a ridiculously easy raise. So is 77, and I'd raise with 66 as well. I'm sure other posters are raising with 55 here, but I'm not that adventuresome. Not yet, at least.

99.99% of hands worth playing here are worth raising. You don't have set odds to limp, but you don't need them if you raise. You get position and a pretty damned good hand in a shorthanded pot.

Great post. If you want to transitoin from being a decent player to good player, you need to recognize that SSH is just a guidline (albeit, a very good one), a guideline that wasn't written for 2+2ers but rather the general fishy population who want to get better. It is limited in scope, as you noted, and neglects a lot of SH situations that don't typically come up in LL games.
