View Full Version : Vick is greatest player since Sliced Bread

Hate to write that after a good play but the guy is way better than the critics think. They limited his running during the regular season. Falcons will dominate NFC playoffs.

Sliced Bread was actually overhyped coming out of high school and sort of fizzled out at Texas where he was a mediocre linebacker at best. Though he showed flashes of greatness at times, the drug habit, booster scandal, and overall lack of drive really hurt him. After being signed as an undrafted free agent he was cut by San Francisco during the preseason and never returned. So saying Vick is the greatest since him isn't saying much.

Vick is a fraud, and the Eagles will dominate him next week.

I could put up 100 yards rushing on that porous Rams defense. Dont get ahead of yourself here...

First of all: You have absolutely no basis for calling Vick a fraud.

Second: The Eagles will not get a shot at the Vicks because they are going to get pwned by the Vikings. Sorry.

"Sure I do, he cant throw the ball, plain and simple."

Lol- do you actually watch football? Vick has a cannon for an arm, and is pretty damn accurate a lot of the time. He has one receiver- Crumpler- and crumpler puts up pro bowl type numbers with him.

Secondly when you run like vick the passing becomes secondary. A qb's role is to direct his offense, throwing the ball is one way he can do it, calling audibles another. Watch the game again- St louis had a linebacker or DB spying vick the whole game- which led to huge holes for Dunn and Ducket to run through- he makes his whole team better (i haven't even mentioned the fact that they couldn't stop him even with that spy). Jim Mora Jris learning how to utilize his best weapon more and more- they might have some problems with the eagles, and that would be a good game. But they will destroy the vikings if they play them.
Vick is the real deal, future hall of famer if he avoids injury, and the most exciting player in the NFL to watch.

You are blinded by the love of your own team, and I would bet that any Rams defensive player could take you on the open field and put you in a hostpital.

sportsbook.com had a free $10 bet if Vick's longest run would be above or below 24 1/2 yds. I picked over. It won by the 3rd play. Yes!

Vick's career Completion percentage is 53.6%. His 2004 season Completion % was 56.4.(Maybe this is a reflection of his receivers) That doesn't suggest astonishing accuracy to me. I feel he will improve with experience, and when he learns how to conduct a really good passing game he wil be unstoppable.

When he throws for more than 200 yards in a game, you give me a call. (By this year's numbers, that means I'd have received two phone calls...)

I stand by my statement, he can't throw the ball. He can run like the wind, there's no denying that, and third and goal from the 14 and your defense lines up in pass coverage means bad things will happen, but still, he cant throw the ball - couldnt throw the ball at Tech, cant throw it now.

I watch pretty much every game, every weekend...

He can throw the ball, but is not consistently accurate. (That is probably what you meant, but I wouldn't say someone with an arm like his can't throw the ball.)

At Tech, he didn't exactly have a receiving corps. This year is the first year Tech has actually had more than one decent receiver, and they are all freshmen!!! I am pretty stoked about that.

Yesterday was the first game I saw him play in this year (and even then I was playing poker at the time). What made him great in college was that he could win a game in the forth quarter practically on his own. He was just a great clutch performer. What I also like about him is that he is not a screw up. He hasn't gotten himself into any off field trouble (as far as I know) and works hard (also as far as I know). He certainly isn't the smartest guy in the world, but he is smart enough to not ruin his career and seems to do the right thing off the field most of the time.

5 years from now Vick might well be the greatest thing. The only problem is that he is to advanced for the leauge. The NFL is not ready for a player like Vick. If there were others like him it'd be a different story. He's a new breed of player and man. He has the ability and talent to revolutionize the game but the coachs and owners won't let it happen. To them a quarterback is supposed to throw and not take hits. Vick could change the game but they just won't let it happen. It's sad but true.

In NFL standards Vick could be the greatest thing since Lawerence Taylor. Taylor changed the way outside linebacker is played in the game forever. How could he do it and Vick can't? Because coach's don't care about linebackers like they do quarterbacks. And to put it deeper in to perspective; Vick could be the greatest thing since Taylor but Taylor is the greatest thing since the forward pass.

I agree, but i think Mora is starting to use Vick more and more appropriately. As for other like Vick- vince young looks real good, and if Kordell had been a lot smarter about his career he could have been a mini vick- some one who could alter the defenses' schemes- just not as potent.

Note Atlanta's record with and without vick over the last 3 years. No single player is more important to his team as Vick.

Yeah I used to be in the "Vick is overrated camp"

But after watching last nights game I /images/graemlins/heart.gif Vick.

I mean, even though the Rams sucked ass last night, you could still see how good he was on the not so long plays.

Like when he bootlegged left and was gonna run but stepped back and dodged a defender and threw like an 8 yard pass. It was sweet and most QB's either wouldn't have made it that far, thrown it out of bounds, or gotten sacked.

The only thing that wows me about Vick, more than he feet of genius, is his throwing mechanics. When he throws the football it looks so effortless and comes off his fingertips like the ball was shot out of a cannon. People admire Favre's arm strength, and he certainly has it. But you can see the effort he puts into a throw that he zips. Vick appears not to even try to put such a high velocity on his throws, but damn are those things bullets. His mechanics are flawless. Now if he could just get the accuracy issue solved.

hey clark,

don't get me wrong. i've always realized how important he was to the team. but people have been hailing him as the greatest QB ever it seems like. until he does more with his arm (hell, maybe all he needs is a decent receiver or two. time will tell), i've always considered him a more talented kordell stewart.
