View Full Version : Big pot, scary river card

I have two hands from my latest session where the pot was pretty big (15 or more BB), where I was fairly sure I was in good shape until the river card fell. One hand given here, the next in the reply.

Hand 1: CO is LAG (only 20 hands on him, though), and BB is a tricky LAG who is easily beaten by raising his bets and reraising his raises postflop (he almost unblinkingly folds if he has nothing, continues if he has a hand). What are we putting these guys on after fourth street?

I think my river bet is a spew, but I pretty much just moved my mouse to the right and clicked until it broke; the CO raise on the river made me think of course, but I called because the pot was big.

Hand 2: UTG+1 is BB from last hand (tricky LAG), BB is CO from last hand (LAG with only 20 hands), SB is a Rock, button (PFR) is LA-P.

I think the river is an easy fold for me, but my questions are about the earlier streets. I don't normally play mid suited connectors from MP1 on an average table, but this table was pretty laggy. It had a good chance of being raised preflop by just about anyone (and thus any two cards), and I was pretty certain of seeing the flop with at least four or five others even if it was raised. I know who the rocks and other tighties are, so I know if the raise comes from them, I need to tread carefully.

River value bet is tasty. If the guy's a true LAG you can 3-bet his already counterfeited 5,6 two pair. I think a call is fine though.

2 cold? I'd say you're just about toast. Anyone else think differently? 1:10 enough to justify a fishy cold-call?
