All paraphrases are taken from High-Low-Split Poker by Ray Zee.

$0.50/$1 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo 8 - No ante.

3rd Street (0 SB) - 6 players.

Hero: 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif
Seat 2: X X J/images/graemlins/heart.gif
Seat 3: X X K/images/graemlins/heart.gif
Seat 4: X X A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif
Seat 5: X X 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif
Seat 8: X X T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

Seat 5 brings-in $0.25, Seat 8 calls, Hero calls, Seats 2 and 3 fold, Seat 4 calls.

Seat 5 is the only one likely to raise on 3rd and he just called the bring-in.

Since this is a no ante game and not that loose, maybe I want to be in later position and see at least one more caller?

From Ray Zee’s book: The is a Cat. 12 hand that I think my hand meets the criteria for playing except maybe the multiway part.

4th Street (2 SB) - 4 players.

Hero: 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif 3/images/graemlins/heart.gif
Seat 4: X X A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif
Seat 5: X X 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif
Seat 8: X X T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif

It’s checked thru.

5th Street (1 BB) - 4 players.

Hero: 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif 3/images/graemlins/heart.gif 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif
Seat 4: X X A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif
Seat 5: X X 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 9/images/graemlins/club.gif
Seat 8: X X T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif 4/images/graemlins/club.gif

Seat 5 bets, Seat 8 calls, Hero calls, Seat 4 folds.

6th Street (4 BB) - 3 players.

Hero: 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif 3/images/graemlins/heart.gif 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif J/images/graemlins/spade.gif
Seat 5: X X 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 9/images/graemlins/club.gif 3/images/graemlins/club.gif
Seat 8: X X T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif 4/images/graemlins/club.gif J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

Seat 5 bets, Seat 8 calls, Hero raises, Seat 5 calls, Seat 8 calls.

7th Street (10 BB) - 3 players.

Hero catches 6/images/graemlins/club.gif.

Seat 5 checks, Seat 8 checks, Hero bets, Seat 5 folds, Seat 8 calls.

Any comments appreciated.

I apologize to Ray Zee if I mangled anything in his book. I wanted to touch on some of the things he proposes without giving the book away.

I play it the same, except that I usually catch the 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif on sixth street before pairing the Six on the end.

I wonder how close a 5th street raise is with the dead 4's

I almost asked about that.

The way I see it, besides the 4’s the only other low card out is the A, so I still have a decent shot at low.

There are two open-pair out but Seat 8 has the third 4 and 9.
