Six people limp, and I raise 77 on the button. BB calls, a whole bunch of us to the flop.

Flop is 2KQ. Checked to me. Action?

Take the free card and hope for a 7.

You aren't going to win this hand unless you improve.

I'm not sure. Hesitating slightly before checking might be best, but I could understand just checking immediately /images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Check behind and take the free card. With a lot of people in the pot, you're not going to win with a flop bet, and you might even get checkraised.

If the flop was Q62 instead of KQ2, I would be more inclined to bet.

Ok, I checked. Turn was a 2, checked to me again... Anyone bet?

I do. Any K and most Q's, especially in late position, would have bet this time, unless they were super passive. (or check-raising)

since you checked the flop, a turn bet won't get any pair to fold except MAYBE get gutshots to fold. The only real problem on turn Is letting someone hit a pair on river for free when they wouldn't have had proper odds to call. I think betting the turn is OKAY, as you have a decent shot of being ahead now. Someone with a Q probably still wouldn't bet if they were weak, so you are going to be behind anyone with a Q, but hopefully somehow nobody has it.

Should hero take a free showdown here, if given the option?

I bet with the intention of checking through the river unimproved. I fold to a turn check/raise (which I think is extremely unlikely). And whether I call or fold the river if someone bets into me depends on who bets and whether the river is >7 or <7.
