3 betting the flop would make the rest of the hand a lot easier. If you do so and he still leads into you on the turn after calling or capping you can start thinking about being beat.

3-bet the flop, he could be on a draw, have a queen, a lower pocket pair, a 7, etc. You have a strong hand here with an overpair and the backdoor nut flush draw. A read would help a lot though.
