A couple of laydowns that bothered me earlier tonight. Obviously, that means good things would've happened if I'd stayed in, but I'm interested in your opinions of the folds...

Hand 1: No reads.

Preflop: Hero is CO with 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, T/images/graemlins/spade.gif. Hero posts a blind of $3.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Hero (poster) checks, 2 folds, BB checks.

Flop: (6.33 SB) 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif, J/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif (6 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 bets, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, Hero folds....

I'm thinking at the time that I've made bottom pair + a backdoor straight draw, but the draw is very weak and two of my other outs are potentially conterfeited to the flush draw. Worth a SB to see the turn?

Hand 2: UTG+1 is LAG. MP1 is on tilt. No firm reads on MP2 or MP3.

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 raises, MP2 3-bets, MP3 caps, 4 folds, Hero folds...?

Worth it to call 3 & hope for the set with 4 other people already paying into the pot?

Hand 1: Fold is good.

Hand 2: I make this call. Depending on whether UTG+1 calls or not, you are looking at 15.5 or 18.5 SB pot. With the amount of action you are almost sure to get when you flop a set, I think the implied odds are there.
