Bought in for max ($200), ran it up to $1100 in a little over an hour.
Following hand comes up:
UTG ($40 stack) calls $4
UTG+1 ($180 stack) makes it $18 to go
I am in middle position with 44. I usually like at least 15:1 implied odds on the call with medium to small pocket pairs if I hit my 4 and we get it all in. Here, the most I can win for my $18 was $220 + $6 in blinds if no one else came in. So I folded. So did everyone else.
Of course, no waiting on the 4 - flopped it, and the guy who made it $18 to go won with KQ offsuit when he hit his Q on the river.
Was I too tight here?
It occurs to me that if I do call the $18, maybe that will lure someone else in and give me the implied odds I need.
Of course, it could get reraised behind me since there were 6 players left to act.
Any thoughts?
