In case you haven't ventured out of OOT in a while, the gimmick accounts are breeding in other forums as well.

What do you think 2+2 should do, if anything?

almost everyother forum on the planet has plenty of moderators. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who could/would be willing to become a moderator.

I somehow think that it is an issue with being a 2+2 site and just handing over some bit of control/authority/decision making ability on behalf of the 2+2 name is the issue, although i think that's kinda crazy because we all know that these boards are getting massive and mat is only one man and chuck i'm sure has other things he would rather do than delete fake accounts etc.

I vote for additional moderators that answer to mat.

look how we got so owned by the QLC moderators...

I ran some message boards for a while. I would be checking IP's of all these new signups. We once had a guy create over 100 accounts from one IP. We held moderator elections so I think he was trying to rig them. I banned them all and blocked the IP. The guy must have spend hours creating unique e-mails for all of them. Eventually he just gave up trying to disrupt the forum.

But 2+2 is a little different. The moderators here try to be a little more liberal (we tried to have a real names and one account per person policy as much as possible). Should just being unfunny a criteria for banning? And who decides it?

Public poll, you must have 200+ posts to vote. If you are accused of unfunnieness 3x and then try again, IP banz0red.

I think it depends on how the gimmick account is used. I don't really have a problem with Iceman or One Word answer as they reply a to thread do their thing and go. It becomes a problem when they reply to every thread and or start creating their own posts which are nothing more than a display of their gimmick.

Really the only thing that can be done is to not reply and notify Matt. There was one here a week or so ago, I notified Matt asking if we could nip this in the bud. I'm not sure if he did anything about it but he hasn't posted since.

I generally don't think giving a regular poster here moderator rights is a good idea. Part of what makes 2+2 so fun, in all of the forums, are the honest and sometimes very heated disagreements whether they be about poker or not thinking some chick is hot. The personnal attacks as long as they do not cross the line set by 2+2 are a fun part of these. If one member had Mod rights it would be too easy for one side to have an unfair advantage.

[/ QUOTE ] This is a legit concern, but most people realize when people are just arguing and clowning on each other and when someone is just purely trolling. I have been in countless "flaming" wars in OOT and I don't consider any of those ban worthy or delete worthy. People love arguing on here in fact and thats great, but I would say 99% of the people on here know whats right(or proper) and what isn't. I don't think a member being a mod would be bad at all, and I wouldn't be concerned either. Plus, it would take one time for the mod to screwup and everyone would let him know.

There should have been IP blocking on dup accts a long time ago. I've suggested before that charging for the use of this forum is the best way to go but that will never happen, so other than tracking these people down and beating the crap out of them I see no solution in the near future, you can't punish someone just for being a dumbass, unfortionately.

I still don't see what is wrong with a retard tax. Just a one time sign up fee would limit a lot of this bullshit and easily prevent the mass dupe accounts. If you had to, use the retard tax on a cloned forum only.

Noooooo! We don't need more mods! If no one responds to them, they'll go away. They may be annoying for like a day, but I gaurantee if no one had responded to this Emilio idiot he'd be gona already. Just block them and don't reply.

as long as "gordon Bombay" is kicked to the curb, i don't care how it works.
surely the incresed ad revenue from the explosion of users would pay one more salary? (pittance)

maybe a three strikes policy?

I wanted to make a gimmick account a while ago, but with the current influx of these tools, I never will. At the time, I was thinking about either a Jon Basedow or Matthew Lesko account. But, then I realized that would be gay.

Did you ever get another shot at Edward G. Robinson after he pulled that runner runner runner straight flush on you? That was brutal.

"You're good Kid, but as long as I'm in town, you're second best."

What a fish. Its like when some fish at the casino cold calls three bets with 94s, rivers a flush, and has that, "I'm so smart" look on their face as their stacking their mountain of chips. "It was suited, I had to see a flop."

But that makes sense compared to 5-card stud. Man, that was brutal.

Listen, Christian, after the game, I'll be The Man. I'll be the best there is. People will sit down at the table with you, just so they can say they played with The Man. And that's what I'm gonna be, Christian.
