Hi. I've just finished my first 10k hands at 1/2 and it hasn't been a great success.

Have I made the right adjustments to my play for 1/2? On the right I'll show the difference from my 10k stats at 0.50/1.

VPIP: 16.24 (-1.66)
PFR: 9.99 (+1.15)
VPIPSB: 24.05 (-7.35)
Att. to steal: 32.40 (+3.61)
WTSD: 26.85 (+2.04)
W$SD: 53.93 (-2.46)
Folded to river bet: 55.79 (-7.25)

AGG: Flop: 4.23 (+1.36)
Turn: 3.94 (-0.27)
River: 2.66 (-0.47)
Total: 3.49 (+0.13)

BB/100: 0.48

I don't know that much about the stats but it looks like I'm too tight preflop and maybe too aggressive postflop.

Thoughts? comments?

Thanks.

well, wario, you may know what's coming but...i don't think there is any way to tell. what was your winnrate at .5/1? (if you don't mind). personally, i don't see how the numerical differences you describe between .5/1 and 1/2 could make a significant difference in your winrate.

over what time period were said 10k hands played?

in fact, forget about stats. go find 5 hands where you consciously changed what you did because it was 1/2 and post them.

My 0.5/1 winrate was 5BB/100 but that was over 10k aswell so is probably also insignificant.

After reading your post and looking back at mine I realise that my question is pretty stupid. Most are only small differences and some may be due to game improvement more than changes for 1/2.

Forget about the changes, how do my 1/2 stats look?

EDIT: I usually play during 11am-7pm EST time if that makes a difference.

Just because you're not tearing it up like you did at .50/1 doesn't mean you're a failure. Variance is the bitch we all bow to. 10,000 is not enough sample size, its just a mile marker.

Your VP$IP is fine. If you're uncomfortable, don't raise pre-flop so much. VP$SB is a bit low. But again, VARIANCE!

increase your BB/100

seriously dude, you've been posting good hands for a while. you know whats going on for the most part (at least as much as me). just play. post. study. read. think. the winrate will sort itself out.

nobody could look at those numbers and tell you anything that will help your game for sure.

Thanks for the responses.

Sounds like I'm paying way too much attention to stats.

I guess I just needed a slap in the face /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

seems low with your (possibly over) aggression.. playing fit or fold, raising turns and folding to 3-bets regularly, etc?

overall fine, no big leaks. post hands.

I don't like calling down with marginal hands even in big pots, that sounds like a leak.

In this (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1537658&page=1&view=colla psed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1) hand you suggested calling the turn. I would probably insta-fold this turn without really thinking about it.

Sorry to hear 1/2 is not going well.

Whenever I see a flop agg this high I tend to think it's a leak. You're either raising too often or folding too often. Passive lines can be quite successful against aggressive players who will fold in the face of returned aggression. You might be folding the river too much too.

My aggression factor is really high. However, I have looked through my hands and I've concluded that it isn't misplaced aggression. It's baically high variance, high reward poker. This may or may not be the case with you.

Regardless, if you have the bankroll and feel confident in your play, get the heck out of 1/2. It sucks.

Why do you say that?

2/4 is just going to suck more right?

Nah dude. 1/2 has probably some of the best players on the internet. 2/4 is a lot like .5/1, but with more aggression. It's paradise.

Sorry about the winrate. I know how you feel. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have Tommy Angeloitis so I can't really comment on the aggression #'s. They looks pretty high. Are you doing lots of raise/fold type plays? If so, you might want to add the call button into your arsenal. /images/graemlins/ooo.gif

You don't goto the end enough IMO. Maybe it is just a bad run of cards, but with the PFR so high, I highly doubt it. Your W$SD should be through the roof with a WTSD of just 27. I would take a look at a few more showdowns, and be even more inclined in big pots.

Your aggression factors look insane to me. Do you feel like you need to raise every flop, regardless of pot size? I see this problem a lot. Do you autobet flops when you raised preflop? This is common too.

There's no way to really say whether or not you have leaks from stats, unfortunately, and I'm sure there are players who do quite well with high aggression levels over the long run. Even in shorthanded play, though, besides the PFR, I don't have aggression levels as high as you. (At .5/1-2/4 and in limited 3/6 I'm around 2.5 on every street, 2 on the river).

I don't really know if these will help find the problem but here are my 'when fold hands' stat.

No fold: 10.57%
Preflop: 77.99%
Flop: 6.67%
Turn: 3.29%
River: 1.47%

So I need to work on calling down more postflop and seeking out alternative not so aggressive lines that are more +EV. I rarely take a passive line with a hand.

I don't autobet flops after raising PF when it serves no purpose, I don't think I spew when I miss with overcards.

When I feel I have the best hand on the flop I will usually bet or raise without considering the pot size. I only really bring the pot size in when I'm calling, I do understand how the pot size should affect my decision though.

I suppose I just get carried away... I'm slipping back into LAGdom /images/graemlins/frown.gif
