I know this is a rather vague question, but how do you play pocket pairs (lets say 22-77) pre flop, in early poition? A friend of mine told me to raise. I don't see how this is a good play.

In the micros, limp on loose tables (5-7 seeing flop) and consider folding on tight tables (3-4 seeing flop). Unless an unusual table, I wouldn't raise -- at least not on Party.

Limp with sufficient callers also going to the flop. Play mostly for set value.

Hellmuth recommends raising with small pocket pairs. I don't know of anybody who thinks this is good advice for micro-limit games.

Like others have said, with small pairs you're hoping to make a set. Limp in unless the table is unusually aggressive, and plan on folding if you miss. These kinds of hands are very easy to play.

low pocket pairs are incredibly difficult to play out of position. I only like them in late position or in very loose, multiway pots where I play them for set value. In late position, I'll play any pocket pair, sometimes for a raise, since on all subsequent betting rounds i'll have more information about whether or not my PP is good or not.
