I have an opportunity to be a prop player at a local card room. Has anyone here ever played as a prop player? Is it worthwhile? Anything that should scare me off? Tell me your experiences. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

The house typically pays props to play in short handed games, at higher than average limits. This gets the game going when there are few players available. Dont play at limits over your bankroll or playing abilities, and obviously if you suck at shorthanded games. It's pointless to lose 20 BB in a 15/30 game to only make $8/hr.

I don't have firsthand experience being a prop, but I've only heard negative things about it. You don't get to choose your game, you don't get to stay if it's a good game and you have to play even if it's bad. You might end up just sitting there all day. Concisely put, one man said "propping poker is not playing poker".

I have propped both B&M and online (current). If you can play in short games it is a really good deal.
