How should I have played this so I could have saved myself some $$

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (7 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

MP1 ($51.25)
Hero ($22)
CO ($59.25)
Button ($48.75)
SB ($49.80)
BB ($54.65)
UTG ($26.45)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A/images/graemlins/club.gif, K/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
UTG folds, MP1 folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $1</font>, CO folds, Button folds, SB calls $0.75, BB folds.

Flop: ($2.50) A/images/graemlins/heart.gif, K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 8/images/graemlins/club.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $1</font>, SB calls $1.

Turn: ($4.50) 3/images/graemlins/club.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $4.5</font>, SB calls $4.50.

River: ($13.50) 7/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $10</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB raises to $20</font>, Hero calls $5.50 (All-In).

Final Pot: $49

Results in white below: <font color="#FFFFFF">
SB has 8s 8d (three of a kind, eights).
Hero has Ac Ks (two pair, aces and kings).
Outcome: SB wins $49. </font>

raise more preflop (this is to take away your opponents implied odds)
other than that, nothing you can do. stacks are too shallow for you to be able to get away from top two pair. you lose your stack here, reload, and play on.

Agreed. Bet the pot too. Under betting strong hands like this is a good way to not make as much money as you could.

Thanks. I've been thinking I'm not reaisng pre-flop enough.
But I reckon many would still call here with 88.
I've seen people call $10 raises pre-flop with 33.
But I know what your saying.

AK(offsuit especially) is a hand I find very very difficult to play.
I find I've lost allot of $$ with it and not won all that much with it.

Thanks again.

yes even if you raise more, people will still probably call with pocket pairs alot of the times, but the point is that the times that they miss their set on the flop and fold to your flop bet, you make enough money to make up for the few times they hit their set and you hit your TPTK and they take your stack.
