I'm looking for a cheap way to get from Salida, CO (3 hours from Denver) to Salt Lake City. I'll be visiting the area for skiing purposes, and it will be kind of a hassle for me to fly.

But the rates for car rentals triple when it becomes a one way rental. Anybody know anyway around this?

avis and advantage do not charge more for one way car rentals.

If you're just visiting for skiing purposes, isn't it going to be a round trip?

Well, it's a long, painful story /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I had already planned a trip to Alta (Utah), but due to some newfound free time, I decided to extend my trip and visit a buddy in Salida. I can get to Salida cheaply from Boston on Jet Blue, but need to figure out a way to get from there to Alta.

they may say they don't, but their daily rate increases when it becomes a 1 way rental.

just dropped an avis rental car off yesterday and did a one way car rental and didnt pay more. did an advantage rental last month. these both stayed in texas so that may be a factor.
