Do they burn a surface if used there for a long period of time?

My chair has a definite burn spot on the armrest right around where I would use my mouse. Its leather if that makes any difference.

For the love of god I hope you are joking. My mouse has a freakin' laser beam inside. Really! Anyway, the answer is no. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

The red light mouse aren't lasers, they are L.E.D.'s. (light emitting diodes) That won't burn a hole in anything. Logitech just came out w/ a laser mouse (I doubt you have it), but the only thing that has a remote chance of burning is your eyes. The way it's set up makes even that highly unlikely.

It's just the friction from moving it constantly.

If it's the same place you prop up your arm while surfing porn, we've found the culprit.

And for the record, you ALL need to go get it. This is the best mouse I have ever used, and I am a mouse enthusiast. My previous mouse was the notoriously awesome dual-optical from logitech (the ONLY brand imo...), and the MX1000 is everything I loved about the dually and more! If you are on the fence, or needing a new mouse, I absolutely recommend investing in this bad boy. It is worth the price.

I can just see someone trying to hold up a liquor store with his laser mouse now.

Taken from the "laser eye surgery" thread:

My roommate verified the burnt spot, so suck it

[/ QUOTE ]

Is he on drugs or been drinking?

Even if it has been caused by the mouse, it wouldn't be the optical aspect of it. The "laser" or LED doesn't get intense enough to burn a hole through anything. If they made portable lasers like that, we would all have neat laser gunas to shoot each other with.
