View Full Version : Was my fold bad here?

I'm #2 chip-lead. 50 or so left. Obviously I'm going for the win. I had taken down a few massive pots in the last few orbits and had shown good hands. I think I could have taken at least 2/3 of MPs stack, as he flopped TPGK; which would have brought me to a chiplead by about 40% over the current chip-leader, and in a huge dominating position.

Reason I folded was of course scared of another raise from MP. So, should I have called the 12K and folded to a re-re-raise from MP? Or was the fold OK?

Incidentally I went out as #14 while 4th in chips. Made a sloppy move on the chipleader... That happens way too often when I get close to the top money. I lose my sharpness and splash around chips completely unnecessarily. Gotto hone that. Sorry for rambling, just felt good to get it down, and start working on it.

Cheers

Calling the raise represents about 7 percent of your stack. Why not? And given your stack size, it would be tough for anyone to make a move on you with anything but aces or kings. Your overcall should give everyone involved here the willies.

I'd rather call here with a medium pair rather than AQs ... a hand I can get away from quickly if I don't hit, but will drag a monster pot if I do.

Your fold was correct...someone who has just raise with half his chips isnt gonna suddenly "not put a move on you" bc you overcall. The CO misplayed the hand horribly. His only options was to call or move or possibly muck here. A raise to half his stack is just stupidity especially with a vulnerable mid PP holding.

Oh BTW, the reason your muck was correct(and I love playing pp in raised pots personally) is Bc neither player had enough left post flop for a set to be profitable enough to make the odds work out. I cant see playing THAT hand for anything but set value there...the guy basically pushed preflop putting half his stack in.

Excellent point. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

and what do you do when mp+2 comes over the top all in 75k, pray for AK and call? The post is results oriented, you made the correct play /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Under the best circumstances, I was looking to take 100K, which isn't that bad...or ? , but the size of MPs stack, which was what I would have been going for, also prevented me from calling.

BTW, just finished the rebuy-period of Stars' $20.000K guarantee. 5th in chips, 700 left. Wish me luck.

Changed the subject here a little cuz I don't wanna start a new thread:

Second break: 3rd in chippies, 308 left.

Lost a considerable amount of chippies in this hand - *shrug* - who woulda thunk?

3rd break:

Field is catching up, 7th in chips with 90 left.
Last hour table was a pain; 5 of top 15 gathered, and chipleader was getting monster hands.

Just moved to a softer table, phew!

Well, for anyone interested I busted in 37th due to two mistakes, and a pointless flipcoin I really din't need. Still lota work on minimizing my mistakes. I think biggest mistake I'm making is thinking I'm pot-commited when I'm really not... or perhaps it's an ego-thing...
