Don't make the play.......

Me and one of my poker buddies were disccussing to not make a play with a weak hand against a player until you first make that play with a stronger hand against that player.

is there any validity to this theory?

hmm, not much i wouldnt have thought. im not waiting untill player X calls my strong hand down before i consider bluffing them.

although im a limit player, so i might be missing something.

The strategy is kind of vague, it would probably
vary depending on specifics whether you should
do something like this.

Basically, it is so general as to be of almost
no use.

I only play NL. I agree. An example I played, I was heads up and went all in with JJ. Other guy folded up TT. I showed.

Next time we were HU and he micked I didn't show because I had crap, but he remembered the previous time...
