Looking at my statistics for the "bad guy" he is a passive player but still he could easily have had the flush or the straight.
So, could I have got away or should I just put it down as one of those bad beats?

I don't think you can get away but you should've bet more on the turn. And if he raises you push. The outcome is probably the same but your play would look better.

If you've decided to get all your money in with just a set on a three-flush, three-straight board (WARNING: not recommended), then the time to do it is the flop when you're 2:1 against to fill, not over 4:1.

I would never go all-in on the flop in a case like this. Too many ways to lose.
However, on the river I had hit the FH. Much more sensible a time for an all-in.

Not as many as you think...it's quite hard to flop a flush, and if you manage to get all in against just a pair or even a pair + a big heart you're something like a 3:1 favorite. Even if you do wind up getting in against a made flush you're 2:1 fill.

The point I was making is that IF you decide to get your money in before completing your full house, the time to do it is the flop and not the turn.

Edit: All in against just the heart draw is about 3:1 exactly, and all in against just a pair puts you as a huge favorite.
