View Full Version : Poker chip values?

I'm getting custom labels made for my dice chips. I'm going to use the following values for the chips, but I don't know what value to assign the blue chip.

White - $1
Red - $5
Green - $25
Black - $100
Purple - $500

Blue - ???

I would think it would be $10 or $50, but it seems like a waste becasue you could just use 2 reds or 2 greens.

Any ideas?

No ideas from me other than don't do it.

I wouldn't want to have values on my chips because stakes change depending on the people in your game, and you may want to use them as tourney chips.

I was going to leave the "$" off so that they could be used as either cents or dollars - that way I could use them as ring and tourney chips.

I'd leave the value completely off the blues and use them as either 0.25 or 1000 as appropriate for ring games or tourneys.

i've been thinking about this too because i want to get a new larger set to use for tournaments and cash games, cash games of any range from quarter games to whatever.

but i have alwasy like the idea of not putting a dollar sign but using smaller "raised" 0's.

for instance i'd have a 25 and 50 that could be used as quarter or $25 chip and 50 cent/50 dollar chip.
<font color="white"> dddddddd dddd</font> oo
then i'd have a 1 <font color="white"> dd </font> sorta deal, that could double as a 1, or 100$ chip.
<font color="white">ddddd</font> oo
then 5 <font color="white"> d </font> chip that would be 5/500

etc. you get the idea.

i hvae seen this markings only on the fan of cards from bluechip/paulson i think, and i would buy those in a sec if they had edgespots.

but anyways, curious to see what anyone else thinks

edit: like this but i think i would take out the dollar signs.

I think 50 is more common than 10, but it is a little unnecessary.

I ordered labels for 6 colors with the following breakdown:
White = 5
Red = 10
Blue = 25
Green = 50
Black = 100
Yellow = 500

I use my blues for .50 and $50 whatever is called for.

I'll 2nd this idea. Use denoms on the others and have this color available for 10¢, 50¢, $2.50, $10, $50, $1000 or whatever.

I don't think having the $ confuses anyone IMO anymore than having just a number.

Denoms prefered since 2004

I would advise you not to print denominations on your chips, unless you plan to buy tons of chips with the idea that most of them may never get used.

Some games &amp; some formats are better suited for certain chip values. If you print values on the chips, you lose flexibility.
